Tony Joe Alexander, son of the late Joe C. Alexander and Rebecca Coffey Alexander passed away into eternal rest Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.
Tony was born on July 14, 1956 in Somerset, Kentucky. He attended Dunbar elementary for 2 years until he transferred to Parker elementary and completed his education in 1975 as a graduate from Somerset High School. Tony was added to the membership of Davis Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church under the leadership of Rev. Evahart Walker on March 8, 1970. He loved the Lord Jesus and took his responsibility as being a trustee very seriously. His mentor and role model was Mr. Charles Sandusky who watched him grow up to be the man, the gentle giant he became.
His passion was driving dump trucks hauling rocks, asphalt etc. as his father Joe and uncle J.W did. Tony became very ill in October of 1996 where his life changed forever. He was undaunted by his change in his life, in these past 14 years he learned to accept the change and made life easier for other renal patients who were apprehensive about their illness. He loved to give them encouragement. Tony loved his family, his many friends and the delight of his life was his daughter Cierra. He took such pleasure in her academic achievements and he did not get to see her inducted into the National Honor Society which was held recently.
Tony leaves to mourn his passing; mother Beck, daughter Cierra, sister Susan pet name Wally, his brother-in-law Lance Smith, 2 beloved aunts Laura Grider of Fairburn, Georgia and Lola Coffey of Biloxi, Mississippi and numerous cousins and one special trucking buddy Montrell Alexander.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivered him out of them all. The Lord has , He does, and He will.
