Mrs. Mabel Edwards of Somerset, KY passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010 in Ashville, North Carolina having attained the age of 96 years. She was born on February 19, 1914, the daughter of the late Leeander and Lillie Rose Phelps Alexander of the White Lilly, KY. She was later united in marriage to Mr. Calvin Edwards on December 24, 1935, together they had an infant son who died at birth. Mabel was the dear sister of Lee Alexander, Bea Alexander, Judy Weddle, Kathleen Price and was preceded in death by Wallace Alexander, Edward Alexander, Curtis Inabnitt, Retha Sears, Delpha Mize, Velta Bullock, and Georgia Harmon. She leaves a host of nephews and nieces who mourn her passing. Mabel was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church of Norwood, Ohio where she was a resident for over 50 years before returning to home in Somerset, KY. She was a deeply religious woman who loved her family & the Lord. She was the matriarch of the Alexander family and was our treasure. She was a kind, sweet lady who will be greatly missed by those who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Mabel Edwards will receive friends will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until time for services. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mrs. Mabel Edwards.
