Mr. William “Bill” Arthur Prather, age. 72 of Somerset, Kentucky departed this life for his heavenly life on November 18, 2010 at his home with his family. Bill was born June 17, 1938 to the late Arthur Goebel Prather and Esma Girky Prather.
William married the love of his life the late Margaret Rose Jackson Prather, March 1955, They were married for 50 years. Bill loved his family and was a devoted father to his children; Melodie Rose (David) Godby, William Arthur Jr. “Burr” (Barbara) Prather, Jeffry Jackson (Kim) Prather, John Christopher (Claudette) Prather. The light of his life was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; William David (Mikki) Godby, Christopher Lee (Jamie) Godby, Jackson Christopher Prather, Chad Eric Peters, Amy (Kenny) Sterns, Shane (Emily) Smith. Great-grandchildren; Chandler Wesley Godby, Boone Clay Godby, Hadley Gail Godby, Kenneth W. Gray Sterns, Kimberly Ann Sterns, Alison Makenzie Page Sterns, Jake Austin Peters, Ryan Alex Peters, Chloe Smith and Lilly Smith. Bill had four sisters; Beatrice (Jack) Turpin, Sarah Jane Posey, Mary Faith “Kay” Bates, Margaret Esma (John) Silvers, one sister-in-lawJonell Prather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother; James W. Prather.
Bill and Margaret loved each other and instilled that love and caring into their children which were blessed to have the parents they had. We give God thanks for our lives with our mom & dad.
Bill was a member of Siever’s Masonice Lodge #491 and was former owner of Somerset Motors (Volkswagen) and helped run Lee’s Ford Dock with his family in the 1950 & 60’s.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Prather Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
The family of Mr. William Prather will receive friends on Saturday, November 20, 2010 after 6:00 p.m. at the Pulaski Funeral Home.
