Mrs. Lena Smith Dye, age 92, of Somerset, Kentucky, daughter of the late James A. and Bertha Alice (Burton) Smith was born on August 17, 1918 in Eubank, Kentucky and departed this life on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Britthaven of Somerset Nursing Home.
Lena was the youngest of 6 children and united to marriage to Mr. Clarence H. Dye back on September 6, 1935 and he preceded her in death back on July 2, 2009. They had one child; Joyce (and Wayne) Wilson of Somerset, Kentucky. Mrs. Dye is also survived by one grandson; Steven L. (and Ann) Wilson of Loveland, Ohio, two great-granddaughters; Abby Wilson of Loveland, Ohio and Elizabeth Spraker of Tucson, Arizona.
Other than her parents and husband Lena was preceded in death by her deceased siblings; Mertie Greene, Mary Osborne, Roscoe, James C. (Clip) and Spencer Smith.
Lena worked at Palm Beach for over 20 years. After that Lena was a homemaker, she loved to cook, sew, spend time with family and was a member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Bro. David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Lena Dye will receive friends on Monday, November 8, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until time for services.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to the Duke Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family of Mrs. Dye would also like to thank the staff of Britthaven for their wonderful caring and unfailing care, Dr. Yemane, and Hospice of Lake Cumberland for caring for her in the final days.
