Mr. Carl Albert Yahnig, son of the late Joe Richard and Clara Simpson Yahnig, was born at Grundy, KY. on October 16, 1923 and he departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 having attained the age of 83 years.
He was united in marriage to Hermine Cowan Yahnig on July 11, 1948 and they recently celebrated thier 58th wedding anniversary, she survives.
Other survivors include: her son, Steve (and Rose) Yahnig of Gridley, IL; her daughter, Jana (and Keith) Ghormley of Lincoln, NE; her daughter, Amy (and Doug) Williams of Nashville, TN; three brothers, Richard, Dudley, and Frank Yahnig all of Somerset, KY; three sisters, Christine Knopp of Staunton, VA, Jessie Dalton of Border, IN, and Josephine Elliott of Texhoma, OK and nine grandchildren.
Albert was a retired mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service, a graduate of Ferguson High School a World War II Army Veteran where he gained the rank of Sargeant and he was also a military police. He was a member of the Monticello Street First Church of God where he has been a member for more than 75 years, a songleader for more than 40 years, a sunday school teacher, Board of Trustee member and he has been a faithful christian leader in his church, in his life and with his family. Albert was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him, he leaves a host of relatives, friends and church family who both mourn his passing and celebrate his homegoing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Monticello Street First Church of God with Rev. Maurice Brandel and Rev. Paul Bastin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery at Nancy, KY with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post # 38.
The family of Mr. Carl Albert Yahnig will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2006 and he will lie in state at the Monticello Street First Church of God form 12:00 noon on Friday, November 17, 2006 until after funeral services.
