Alexine Muse Barrum

June 4, 1923 — August 20, 2010

Alexine Muse Barrum, known affectionately by many as “Aunt Al” went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 20, 2010, having attained the age of 87 years. Alexine was the daughter of the late Luther and Mollie Floyd Muse. She was born in the Trimble community of Pulaski County, KY on June 4, 1923. Alexine was an educator, teaching 34 years in Houston Independent School District at Fondon Elementary School in Houston, Texas, retiring in 1980. Alexine was a devoted Christian member of the Bellaire Church of the Nazarene in Houston, Texas for many years and later moved her membership to Delmer Church of the Nazarene in the Delmer Community of Nancy, KY. She taught Sunday school and led a children’s ministry. She was a loyal supporter and faithful prayer warrior for her Lord, whom she loved with all her heart. She fought a long battle with Lewy Body Disease at her home with caregivers, Dinah Dick, Emma Lee Ball, Ilene Stevenson, and Nina Sears of Hospice of Lake Cumberland whom Alexine and family appreciated their dedication and vigilance. She married Anderson James “Bud” Barrum, whom she wed on June 5, 1953. After his retirement in 1983, they returned from Texas to make her home in Kentucky. He went to be with the Lord on September 18, 1987. She is survived by her dear brother, Lindel (and Christine) Muse of Nancy, KY; one brother-in-law, Rev. Larry Adams of Bowling Green, KY; eight nephews, Joseph O. (and Linda) Dunkum, Thomas (and Lorraine) Fletcher, Larry (and Patty) Adams, Jr., Eric (and Betty) Muse, Stephen Muse, Doug (and Teresa) Muse, Dwight (and Tawnya) Muse, and Joe (and Kim) Muse; seven nieces, Nancy Parachini, Ruth Ellyn (and Jim) Whittington, Patricia Madden, Mary Ellen (and Louie) Eichmann, Louie (and David) Keown, Beth (and Thomas) Bradley and Malinda “Mia” and (Doug) Yanders; many great nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives who mourn her passing. Preceding her in death includes her parents; husband, A.J. “Bud” Barrum; six sisters, Hazel Dunkum, Glenn Lacefield, Ocia Fletcher, Arlie Muse, Mavis Adams and Martha Muse and two brothers, Joseph Muse and Paul Muse. A funeral service for Mrs. Barrum will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Dr. Terry Curtis and Bro. Richard Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 AM Tuesday at Pulaski Funeral Home. Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
