Ms. Elwanda Brinkley, daughter of the late Joseph and Dessie Gilliland Brinkley, was born at Somerset, KY on October 10, 1921 and passed from this life on October 14, 2006 having attained the age of 85 years.
As she grew up, she became a teacher where she gave of her teaching abilities in Arizona and New Mexico, teaching the Indian Tribes out west. While teaching, she was also an advocate for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She was later promoted and moved to Washington D.C. where she remained involved with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. When she retired from the vocation, she became a Realtor and enjoyed selling Real Estate and was actively involved in the trade into the 1990's. A few people probably know that she also went to school to become a clown. She successfully graduated from Clown School and used this gift many times and in many ways related to work and to play. She received the most pleasure as she spent her energy raising the spirits of ill children through the use of her clown ministry!
Elwanda enjoyed a full life and had many friends. She is survived by her special friend; Linda Sweeney, and her sister;, Wilda Mae Cloud and a host of other relatives and friends.
Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by; one brother, Hugh Brinkley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2006 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bobbitt Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Elwanda Brinkley will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
