Mr. George Wayne Ping, son of the late Perry and Viola Vaught Ping, was born in Pulaski County, KY on February 22, 1946 and he departed this life at his residence on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 having attained the age of 64 years.
He is united in marriage to Mrs. Paulette Williams Ping, she survives. Other survivors include; two daughters, Kimberly Dawn (and David) Lowery, and Amy Elizabeth Ping all of Richmond, KY; four grandchildren, Katelyn, Brynna, William, and Sara Beth Lowery, one sister, Jean Ping Renner of Somerset, KY; three brothers, Bobby (and Ruby) Ping of Indianapolis, IN, Denton (and Patty) Ping of Somerset, KY, and Delbert (and Sharon) Ping of Frankfort, IN and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Other than his parents, Mr. Ping was also preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and Warner Ping, and one sister, Willena Ping Lee.
Mr. Ping was a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, and he worked for 30 years for the United States Department of Agriculture. When he retired, he became a statewide consultant for Farm Service Agencies of Kentucky. He was also a Vietnam Army Veteran and had received the following medals; Bronze Star Valor Medal, multiple Purple Heart medals, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, American Defense Medal, Combat Infantryman Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Medal (4 campaigns), Expert Rifle/Automatic Rifle, and a Marksman Machine Gun Medal. He also loved life and enjoyed pulling pranks on family and friends, he also enjoyed fishing and reading. He was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1st, 2010 at the Pulaski Funeral Home with Lieutenant General Robert G. Yerks (Retired), Rev. Darrell Vance and Rev. Jason Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodstock Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post # 38.
The family of Mr. George Wayne Ping will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 .
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the VFW Post # 269 or the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.
