Geneva Norfleet Weddle, 97, of Colts Neck, NJ, passed away quietly the afternoon of Good Friday, April 2, 2010 at Care One, Holmdel. She was born in Faubush, Kentucky on August 9, 1912, where she grew up with her 7 brothers and sisters on a tobacco farm. She married in 1932 and shortly thereafter moved to Norwood, Ohio before moving to Colts Neck in 1997 where she lived with her granddaughter, Sherrie Bradley Sadlon and grandson-in-law, Jack Sadlon. Over the years she worked at AC Auto Light making spark plugs, US Playing Cards, Bethesda Hospital in the security department and snack bar, and Mabley & Carew fitting children’s shoes. She was an active leader in Cincinnati of Alateen where she helped many young teens deal with family alcoholism. Geneva’s favorite pastimes were baking (we’ll really miss her cookies!), working in her garden and crocheting footies, bears and afghans.
Geneva was predeceased by her husband, Virgil in April, 1986, her daughter, Sallie Muehlenhard in September, 1986, and her son, Virgil Jr. in September, 1935. She is survived by her granddaughters, Sherrie Bradley Sadlon & Christina Quesada, great-grandchildren, Jeff Bradley, Matt Bradley and Chantel Quesada, as well as one brother, Avery Norfleet and one sister, Mildred Buchanan.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Wednesday, April 7 at Pulaski Funeral Home, Somerset, KY. A funeral service will be held at 10 am Thursday, April 8 at Pulaski Funeral Home, Somerset, KY. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Somerset, KY.
