Mrs. Zella L. Tomlinson Collins Turpin, daughter of the late William Morgan and Sarah Glover Tomlinson, was born in Pulaski County Kentucky on July 8, 1919 and she was called home to be with Jesus after being a faithful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and hard working christian lady for more than 90 years. She will now be enjoying the fruits of her labor in the presence of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
She was first united in marriage to Howard Collins, he preceded her in death. She later was united in marriage to Mr. James Aaron Turpin, he also preceded her in death. Survivors include; seven children, Dr. James D. (and Judy) Turpin of Zebulon, GA, Howard Collins Jr. (and his wife, Joyce) of Somerset, KY, Steve (and Cathy) Turpin of Somerset, KY, and David Turpin of Somerset, KY, Juanita Wilkerson of Paris, KY, Elizabeth "Betty" Foster of Somerset, KY, and Lisa (and her husband, David ) Phelps of Eubank, KY; twenty-nine grandchildren, Beth, Brandy, Briana, Gynger, Robyn, Rhonda, Bobby, Shane, Diane, Penny, Chuck, Tammy, Miche, Stephanie, Rachel, Leslie, Zachary, Kim, Jimmie Jr., Shane, Beth, Brittany, Layla, Jeff, Randy, Susan, Wendy, J.W., and Angie; forty-nine great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and a large host of other relatives friends and church family who mourn her passing. Other than her parents and two husbands, she was also preceded in death by; six children, Harold, Gerald and Timothy Turpin, James Wayne Collins, Margie Turpin and Barbara Ann Collins and two grandchildren, Barry Turpin, and Ann Thompson Reynold and one brother, Jimmy Tomlinson.
Zella was a person who enjoyed many things in this life a few of which are; sewing, driving in the countryside, picking wild greens, crocheting and when she was not out and about, she enjoyed crafts, and sitting in her swing. She was a member of the Heritage Hope Church of God, and adhered to the Church of God faith her entire life. She worked hard all of her life and sacrificed greatly to provide for her large family. She was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who celebrate her homegoing, but also mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Heritage Hope Church of God with Bro. Johnny Dunbar and Bro. Luther Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnesburg Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Zella L. Tomlinson Collins Turpin will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Pulaski Funeral Home and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Church until time for services. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mrs. Zella Turpin.
