Helen Hines Burgin, 97, 2028 Pond Meadow Road, Somerset, KY, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on March 13, 1909 in Somerset, KY, the daughter of the late Former Pulaski County Sheriff Ben P. and Lelia Ellen Elrod Hines. Helen was a retired School Teacher, an Avid Seamstress, and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Church Guild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Homer E. Burgin, whom she married in 1940, and who passed away in 1957; five brothers, Dr. Walter Elrod Hines, Bennie Milburn Hines, Joseph Rowan Hines SR, Edwin Davis Hines SR., and Arthur James Hines SR.
She is survived by; one brother, retired First Lt. John William Hines (and Jessie Irene Powell Hines), also of Pond Meadow Road, Somerset, KY; nine nephews and nieces; John Bill Hines of Somerset, KY, Melinda Thornton Hines Brown of San Antonio, TX, Edwin D. Hines, JR. (and Janice) of Oak Ridge, TN, Lelia Hines Moody of Oak Ridge, TN, Betty Faye Dykes of Oak Ridge, TN, Ben M. Hines (and Joyce) of Marietta, GA, John G. Hines (and Becky) of Rome, GA, George Hines (and Jayne) of Mt. Dora, FL, and Jay Hines of Maysville, KY; six step-nephews, John Jim, Joe, Jerry, Jeff, and Mike Derwort, the sons of Mrs. John William (Bill) Hines, SR. and numerous great nephews and nieces.
Friends may call at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home after 11:00 a.m. Sunday, August 13, 2006. The funeral service will commence at 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon with Rev. Doug Wilcoxson of the Somerset First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery. Pulaski Funeral Home in entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
