Mr. Carl E. Godby, son of the late Rufus A. and Emma Baker Godby, was born on October 18, 1921 in Pulaski Co., KY and departed this life on Wednesday, August 09, 2006 in Somerset, KY having attained the age of 84 years.
He was united in marriage to Renda Wilson Godby, she preceded him in death. Survivors include; two daughters, Carol and Rev. Roy Helm of Somerset, KY and Rosemary and Scott Simons of Frankfort, KY. Also surviving are; four grandchildren, Gregory (and Sheila) Smith of Campbellsville, KY, Jennifer (and Wayne) Mills of Bardstown, KY, Stephen (and Maria) Helm of Lexington, KY and Michael (and Melody) Helm also of Lexington, KY; five great grandchildren, Tia Smith, Carly Smith, Elliot Smith, Brandon Willis, and Shaun Willis;two great great grandchildren, Joseph Willis and Evan Smith; two brothers, Dual Godby of Elizabethtown, KY, and Noel Godby of Russell Springs, KY; and two sisters, Thelma Foley of Elizabethtown, KY and Lafern Bernard of Elizabethtown, KY.
Other than his parents and his wife, he is also preceded in death by; four brothers Rev. Paul Godby, Merle Godby, Elwin Godby and Leon Godby and one sister, Elva Russell.
Carl was a boilermaker for local # 40 in Elizabethtown, KY, a member of the West Somerset Baptist Church, World War II Army Sargent and a member of the Burnside Masonic Lodge #635.
He was also a kind person who will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2006 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Butte officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family of Mr. Carl Godby will receive friends at Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2006. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.
