Jewell Wallace

Jewell Acton Wallace, daughter of the late Alfred and Frances Ellen Colson Acton, was born at Eubank, KY on May 20, 1921 and departed this life on Monday July 31, 2006 having attained the age of 85 years. She was united in marriage to Mr. Bernice E. Wallace, he preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, June (and Richard) Correll of Somerset, KY and Jane (and William) Nunnelley of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren, Richie Correll of Somerset, KY, Mary Catherine (and Bradley) Wurth of Lexington, KY, Anne Claire Correll of Somerset, KY, William Correll of Somerset, KY., Ward Correll of Somerset, KY., Margaret Ellen Correll of Somerset, KY, Matthew Nunnelley of Atlanta, GA., and Colson Nunnelley of Atlanta, GA, and two very special caretakers, Jean Anderson and Norma Begley both of Somerset, KY. Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by; two brothers, Superintendent Corbin J. Acton and Cooper Acton and one sister, Rissie Acton Hart. Jewell was a retired teacher for the Pulaski County School System, having sserved there for more than 20 years. She assisted with the developement of Health Care Services, and was the former precinct chairman for the Democratic Party of Pulaski County,and she was also once active in the Oulaski Co. P.T. A. While still in the Cincinnati, she spearheaded many educational programs including, but not limited to the vaccination of all schoolage children against Polio. She was also an honors student from E. K. U. and did all of her post graduate work there as well. She also served on the Somerset Community College Advisory Board and was a member of the Somerset First Baptist Church. She was a kind lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Adcock and Rev. Billy Frank Adams officiating, burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery at Eubank, KY. The family of Mrs. Jewell Acton Wallace will receive friends at Pulaski Funeral Home after 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Augst 03, 2004 until time for services. Pulaski Funeral Home is entrusted with all funeral services.
