Mr. Bethel L. Whittenberg

Mr. Bethel L. Whittenberg, son of the late Lee and Nancy Walker Whittenberg, was born in Byrdstown, Tennessee on April 14, 1923 and he departed this life on Friday, February 12, 2010 in Somerset, KY having attained the age of 86 years. He was united in marriage to Mary Stringer Whittenberg on May 25, 1949 in Somerset, KY, she survives. Other survivors include; three daughters, Beverly (and Brent) Fleming of Somerset, KY, Mary Beth Whittenberg of Nancy, KY and Lisa (and Tim) Anderson of Somerset, KY; and five grandchildren, Matthew (and Margaret) Trowbridge, Kyle Trowbridge, Adam Fleming, Jake Anderson, and Shelby Anderson. Bethel was a World War II Air Force Veteran, he was a member of the West Somerset Baptist Church for more than 60 years, he served as a Deacon for the church for more than 56 years, he also served as a Sunday school teacher, and a Sunday school superintendent. He retired from Whittenberg Electric, a company which he owned for many years. Bethel was an avid University of Kentucky fan, he also enjoyed miniature golf and fishing. He loved people, and he loved his church and family. He was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him and he leaves a host of friends and church family who mourn his passing and celebrate his home going. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, at the West Somerset Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Butte officiating. Burial will follow in the West Somerset Cemetery. The family of Mr. Bethel Whittenberg will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 5:30 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010 and at the West Somerset Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. Monday until time for funeral services. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Bethel Whittenberg.
