Alberta Hargis Dick, age 81, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on March 17, 1928. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Dick, who passed away in 2001 and her first husband, Boyd McFall, Jr., who passed away in 1951. Mrs. Dick was also preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Lela Hargis of Ringgold, a brother, Fred Hargis, sisters, Edna Hill and Cordia Hargis and a niece, Jeannetta Hargis.
Mrs. Dick is survived by two sons, Rodney & (Donna) McFall of Somerset and David Dick of Atlanta, GA. Also survived are a granddaughter, Joanna & (Robert) Lankford of Lexington, KY, great-grandchildren, Audrey and Jack Lankford, a brother, Robert & (Laura) Hargis, a niece, Sharon Murphy and nephews, Mark & (Debbie) Hargis and Robert & (JoAnn) Hill. Surviving great-nieces and nephews include Ashley Murphy, Aaron Murphy, Adam Murphy, Kelly Bowling and Craig Hill and great-great-niece, Sarah Hill. She is also survived by a special young friend, Nick Burton.
Mrs. Dick was a long-time nursery worker at Somerset First Baptist Church and "Miss Bertie" will be missed by the many children whose lives she has touched. She took great pleasure in being with her family and friends and she enjoyed playing in two bridge clubs. Having been an avid golfer herself, she loved to watch golf on television.
The family of Alberta Dick would like to thank her friends and the members of Somerset First Baptist Church for their loving support and kindness.
Visitation will be held at Pulaski Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 6 PM until 9 PM and on Wednesday from 9 AM until time for the service. The funeral service for Mrs. Dick will be held at 11 AM in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 with Pastor French Harmon officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Somerset First Baptist Church Nursery or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
