James Whitis

James Chapen Whitis, 74 of Brookview Drive Somerset, died Friday July 14, 2006 at his residenc. He was born February 20, 1932 in Tonawanda, Illinois to the late Bill and Mae Whitis. He was a carpenter of trade and previous owner of Cumberland Cove Cottages in Burnside, KY, also a deacon at Beacon Hill Baptist Church, veteran of Korean War and a avid bowler and pool player. Survivors include his Wife Dolores (Dee) Whitis whom he married September 20th, 1952 in Akron, Ohio; Two sons James (Pam) Whitis Junior of Parker, Colorado; Jeff (Becky) Whitis of Somerset, Kentucky; Daughter Cindy Woolley of Portage Michigan; Three Brothers Bill (Lavonne) Whitis of Eubank, Kentucky; Verl (Carol) Whitis of Massillon, Ohio; Jerry (Connie) Whitis of Mogadore, Ohio; Three Sisters Gladys Moughler of Urichsville, Ohio; Ruby (June) Cundiff of Munroe Falls, Ohio; Maxcine (Ralph) Harrison of Summersville, West Virgina; Ten Grandchildren Jason (Heather) Whitis, Jillisa (Bill) Hawk, Jackie, Amber, and Andrew Rutherford, Cassi andDavid Woolley, Kristin Whitis and Step - Grandchildren Kendra (Mike) Levstik and Kelly Lowden. Three Great Grandchildren Faith Rutherford, Zachary Chisenhall and Mary Beth Hawk. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Scherrie Lyn Rutherford and a Brother Russell Whitis. Friends of the family are invited to call after 6:00 P.M., Monday July 17th, 2006 at the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday July 18, 2006 at Beacon Hill Baptist Church, with visitation from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Bro Sam Adkins will be officiating, Grave side services will follow at Lake Side Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for Mr. Whitis will be the Pool Players Club. Donations may be made to Beacon Hill Baptist Church World Hunger Fund or Gideons Bible Fund. Pulaski Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
