Mrs. Ora Meece, daughter of the late Dee and Lily Mayfield Meece, was born in the Ruth Community of Pulaski County, Kentucky on January 22, 1920 and she departed this life on January 29, 2010 in Somerset, Kentucky having attained the age of 90 years.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Alonzo Meece on January 8, 1938 in Somerset, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1989.
Survivors include; two daughters, Jean (and Jesse) Randolph, and Tina Whitis; one son, Fred (and Carolyn) Meece, all of Somerset, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren; one brother, Ray (and Elnora) Meece of Somerset, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, and husband, Ora was also preceded in death by; one grandson, Dickie Meece; one son-in-law, Charles Whitis; two brothers, Curtis and Frank Meece; six sisters, Martha Meece, Okra Tomlinson, Rusha Pruitt, Fannie Bronson, Madalee Hargis and Elnora Decker.
Ora was a retired Roses employee and a member of the East Somerset Baptist Church, she was a kind person will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Gilbert Robinson and Bro. Kenny Daulton officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnesburg Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Ora Meece will recieve friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or The Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.
