Mrs. Agnes Frances Whitis, age 89, departed this life on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the home of her daughter.
A Pulaski County native, she was born on March 31, 1920 to the late Richard and Anna Belle Cook. She was united in marriage to Mr. James Chappell Love. He lost his life while serving our country during World War II. She later was united in marriage to Mr. Robert Eugene Whitis. He also preceded her in death.
She is survived by five children, Ruth Love, Larry (and Karen) Whitis, Mike Whitis, Linda (and Charles) Ledford, and Sandy (and Jerry) Higginbotham; and one granddaughter, Patty (and Donald) Black, whom she raised as her own. Also surviving are 15 other grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Other than her parents, and two husbands, she was also preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters, one grandson and two great grandsons.She also leaves a host of other relatives, friends and family members who mourn her passing.
She was a member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church and she attended faithfully as long as her health would permit.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Matthew Black and Bro. David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery.
The family of Agnes Whitis will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2009.
In Lieu of flowers the family request expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Altzheimers Respite Center or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
