Mrs. Iva Mae Hargis Phelps, age 89, daughter of the late James Riley and Amanda Ellen Mize Hargis was born on June 5, 1920at Bent, Kentucky, and went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday September 23, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orville Phelps on July 3, 1991.
Mrs. Phelps is survived by two daughters; Shirley (and Jerry) Snell of Evendale, Ohio, Elaine Phelps of Somerset, Kentucky, one grandson; Randy (and Chrystal) Snell; one great-grandson; Zachary Snell, and one great-granddaughter; Allicia Snell all of Reading, Ohio. She is also survived by one very special sister; Wanda White; special niece and nephews; Valerie Adams, Gerald and Michael White all of Somerset, Kentucky, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces/nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her son; Gary Phelps on July 4, 1966. Also preceding her in death were three brothers; Lewis, Delmer, and Dickie Hargis; and five sisters; Stella Stogsdill, Emma Phelps, Alberta Kolb, Zelta Randall, and Vida Norwood. Mrs. Phelps was a member of Clay Hill Baptist Church. She made a profession of faith at the age of 16 when her Mother led her to the Lord. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, sister, friend and will be greatly missed.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 25, 2009 and will be after 9:00 a.m. until time of services at noon in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home. The services will be conducted by Mrs. Phelps’ grandson; Brother Randy Snell. Special music will be provided by her granddaughter-in-law; Mrs. Chrystal Snell. Burial will follow the service at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend there thanks to the staff of Somerset Nursing and Rehab for the care and love that was shown to her. Also, they would like to thank Dr. Anjum Iqbal for the kindness and understanding that she provided for there Mother. May God bless each of you.
