Francis L. Akers

Mr. Francis L. Aker, son of the late Ned Pearl and Katherine Pearl Godbey Aker, was born on October 13, 1921 and he departed this life on Wednesday, September 09, 2009 having attained the age of 87 years. He was united in marriage May 20, 1953 to Velma Dare Trivett Aker, she survives. Other survivors include; four children, Sue (and Jim) Holloway, David (and Judy) Aker, Robert “Bob” (and Debbie) Aker, and Debbie (and Randy) Buttram; eight grandchildren, Kim Palmer, David Aker II, Kent Holloway, Lee (and Angela) King, Sara (and John) Cox, Daniel (and Michelle) King, Robyn (and Brett) Denney, and Abbie (and Jake) Lowe, and twelve great grandchildren, Marisa and Madison Palmer, Haley, Kloee, Baylee, Zack, and Raeleigh King, Taylor Cox, Kane Denney, Jace, Jaegan, and Zander Lowe. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Bastin Aker, and one brother, Vivian Gay Aker. Francis was a member of the Science Hill United Methodist Church, and he was a World War II Army veteran and an avid golfer. He was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves a host of relatives, friends, and church family who mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Kent Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2009. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements of Mr. Francis L. Aker.
