Selva Lois Ard Saylor, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, March 26 at the age of 88 at her residence. She was born on April 24, 1928 in Pulaski County, KY to the late Columbus and Creola Weddle Ard. She is survived by a son, Michael (and Edith) Saylor of Charleston, South Carolina; a daughter, Debie Meece, of Somerset, KY; a sister, Darlene Sumpter of Nancy, KY; 5 grandchildren; Sandy Meece Smith, Jamie Meece, Alisa (and Joshua) Norfleet, Shawn (and Amrita) Saylor, Jeremy (and Lori) Meece; and 5 great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Edison and Herman Ard; a son-in-law, Gerald Meece; and a wonderful stepfather, Earl Ard. Lois attended grade school up until the 8th grade when she had to quit to work on the family farm. When she was 22, she moved to Hamilton, Ohio. She spent the next 29 years there raising her children and being sure to never miss a church service or tent revival. She was employed by Miami University as a cafeteria worker during that time. In 1978, she moved back to Somerset to care for her ailing mother and stepfather. After their passing, she worked as an in-home caregiver up until her retirement. Her greatest joys in life came from spending time with her family and friends and being at church surrounded by her church family. She was a devoted member of Community Harvest Church of God and could be found sitting on the back pew every time the doors were open. She leaves behind countless family and friends who will always remember her wit, cheerful smile, boundless love for her family and her Lord and savior. Many thanks go to the many nurses and staff at Somerwoods (where she was so proud to be voted Valentine Queen 2017 by the rehab unit staff), Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital ICU unit, and Hospice. Special thanks to Sylvia, Melissa, Erin and Jason for providing exceptional compassionate care during her final months. A celebration of the life of Selva Lois Saylor will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 30 at Community Harvest Church of God with Rev. Larry Perkins and Rev. Wilma Jackson officiating. The family of Ms. Selva Lois Saylor will receive friends at Community Harvest Church of God from 5:00 pm Thursday until time for services. Pulaskik Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Selva Lois Saylor.
