Mr. Hollis Gene Helton, of Somerset, Kentucky son of the late Gale and Zella (Buckner) Helton was born on April 22, 1918 in Sloans Valley , Kentucky and departed this life on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky having attained the age of 91 years.
Other than his parents Mr. Helton was preceded in death by his wife; Ada (Shadoan) Helton, one daughter; Carolyn Elleman and four brothers; Everett, Kenneth, Vola and Frank Helton.
Mr. Helton is survived by one son; James(and Carolyn) Helton of Stanton, Kentucky, three daughters; Faye(and Walter) Duff of Lily, Kentucky, Gail (and Fred) Bowser of Waynesburg, Kentucky, Phyllis (and Chris) Navetta of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania,one sister; Ruth Wallace of Somerset, Kentucky, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who all mourn his passing.
Mr. Helton adhered to the Baptist faith. Hollis was a Master Mason and member of the Glen Allen Masonic Lodge 131 in Glen Allen, Virginia for 51 years and was retired from the CSX Railroad.
Funeral services for Mr. Hollis Gene Helton will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009 in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Johnny Helton officiating, burial will follow in the Sloans Valley Cemetery.
The family of Mr. Helton will receive friends on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m.
