Elsie Mae Harmon Smith passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016, in Hopkinsville, KY, after a brief illness. She was 91.Born December 17, 1924, Elsie taught home economics for nearly 50 years in Pulaski County, primarily in Shopville. After retiring from teaching,she moved to Hopkinsville to be near her son and his family. She lived inChristian Care Retirement Community until her death. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Somerset and a current member of Sinking Fork Baptist Church in Hopkinsville.Elsie is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Betsi Smith of Hopkinsville; a grandson, Ross Smith of Florida; a sister, Ivadean Harmon Gibson of Girdler, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Robert and Nannie B. Harmon; four brothers, Halsey Harmon, Rev. Leonard Harmon, Lawrence Harmon, and Claude Harmon;and two sisters, Mary Harmon Wright and Wanda Harmon Laugherty.A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Monday, December 19, 2016 at Pulaski Funeral Home.Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Visitation for Mrs. Elsie Mae Harmon Smith will be after 11 AM, Monday, December 19, 2016 at Pulaski Funeral Home.A memorial service is planned at a later date in Hopkinsville.Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
