Reverend Raymond F. Hail, age 81 of Somerset, Ky, passed from this life on Friday, November 25th. He was the son of Edward and Alene (Colyer) Hail who both preceded him in death. Raymond was born September 3rd, 1935. He had 4 siblings: Lola (Raymond) Meece, Geraldine (Clyde) Meece, Jewel (Christine) Hail, and Harold (Linda) Hail. Harold is a resident of Somerset whereas the 3 other siblings preceded Raymond in death. He also has 3 half siblings: Kellawn Hail, Marvelena Wright and Marjorie Bradley, who preceded Raymond in death.Raymond was a man among men. He earned the respect and love of the community of Somerset and the surrounding area by serving in the two roles he was most known for-- Kentucky State Trooper and Baptist minister. Raymond served with the state police for 25 years and retired in 1982. He was known for treating people firmly yet fairly. In 1976 Raymond responded to God's call on his life to be a minister of the gospel. He served as pastor for 5 churches in the south central area of Kentucky. His last pastorate was at Pine Hill Baptist Church. He led many people to faith in Christ and he loved his flock deeply. He and his wife joined Parker Mills Baptist Church after Raymond's retirement from pastoring.Raymond was best known to his wife, the former Drusilla Mounce and his daughter Melody (Evan) Hargis and son Chris (Kelli) Hail as a loving and protective husband and father. Raymond and Drusilla were married in Somerset on June 1, 1958. Theirs was a model marriage of love, dedication, commitment and self sacrifice. Raymond was the rock of the family. Raymond has 7 grandchildren: Courtney and Ben (Mary Kate) Hargis of Somerset and Katie, Caleb, Kelsey, Khaki, and Kori of Jackson Tennessee. Each grandchild knows they were the apple of "Paw's" eye.A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home.Burial will be in Somerset Cemetery.Visitation will be after 6 PM Monday, November 28, 2016 at Pulaski Funeral Home.Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
