Sarah Jane Prather Posey

Sarah Jane Prather Posey, daughter of the late Arthur and Esma Girkey Prather, was born in Lexington, KY on June 17, 1941 and she departed this life on November 6, 2016 in Somerset, KY having attained the age of 75 years.   She was the proud mother of two sons, James (Jim Bill) and Carl.  She loved both of them dearly.  She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Esma Silvers, and Mary Faith Prather-Bates.   She was preceded in death by her brothers Bill and Jimmy Prather, and her sister Beatrice Turpen and both parents, Arthur and Esma Prather.  She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews whom she also loved dearly.   Sarah was of the Methodist faith, and a lifelong member of Sardis United Methodist Church.      Sarah's great loves and talents included playing the piano, reading, needlepoint, and cooking, among other things.  She loved her family dearly, and her faith in God was strong.  In spite of many physical ailments over the past many years, she never wavered in her faith, and it brought her strength and comfort in many difficult times.   A graveside service was held with close friends and family members present, Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Prather Family Cemetery at Nancy, KY. Bro. Mark Harrell officiated.   Pulaski Funeral Home was honored in assisting the family of Sarah Jane Prather Posey with all final arrangements.
