Gerald Warren Hughes of the Ruth community, son of the late Clarence M. and Elizabeth Ping Hughes was born in Exline, Iowa on April 30, 1916 and departed this life at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset on July 22, 2009 having attained the age of 93 years.
Gerald was united in marriage to Martha R. Tomlinson on April 7, 1940 and she preceded him in death on October 30, 2001.
He is survived by one daughter; Sylvia (and Jewell) Tomlison of Somerset KY and one Son; Max (and Carolyn) Hughes of Somerset, one grandson; Anthony Hughes of Somerset, two granddaughters; Kelly (and Dr. R. David) Ponder of Knoxville TN ,and Belinda Hughes(and Mark)Johnson Louisville KY., five great grandchildren; Logan Forshee of Louisville KY, Mason Hughes of Simpsonville KY, Robert, Will, Maria Ponder of Knoxville, TN.
Gerald was retired from Wayne Supply and a member of Sievers Masonic Lodge #491 F&AM and of the Baptist Faith and attended the White Lily Baptist Church.
Other than his parents and his wife he is preceded in death by five brothers; Max Elmer, Clarence M. JR., Harold, Cyril, and Robert “Pete”, and one sister; Nora Blanche.
Funeral services for Mr. Gerald Warren Hughes will be Saturday July 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home, with Bro. Ernest Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Keeney Cemetery.
The Family of Mr. Gerald Warren Hughes will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday July 24, 2009 at the Pulaski Funeral Home.
