ELSIE "MAE" HAMMOND BESHEAR, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Somerset, Kentucky. She was born on January 2, 1928, in Kidder (Wayne County), Kentucky, to the late Jodie Lewis Hammond and Vada Ella Cassada Hammond. She was the owner of Copy Trolley Printing and a 1946 graduate of Nancy High School. A lifelong member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church, she contributed at every opportunity including teaching Sunday School and Bible School classes, serving as past president of Ladies Fellowship, singing in the choir, and her two favorite things – hosting mission families and preparing meals for church family. Her easy smile, gracious personality, and amazing compassion were just a few things that made her so special to so many. Her day was complete if she was feeding someone in her country kitchen – the more, the merrier. On March 1, 1947, she married Carter Beshear, who preceded her in death, in 2010. Her son, Michael Lee Beshear, also preceded her in death, in 2007. Mrs. Beshear is survived by one daughter, Teresa Beshear Kvachuk (Dan) of Palm Coast, FL. She was so proud of each of her four surviving grandchildren, Deidra Beshear Hoellein (Andrew) of Lexington, KY; Amber Beshear Tarter (Josh) of Somerset, KY; Andrea Lancaster Shaffer (Derek) of Lexington, KY; and Michael Lucas Beshear of Lexington, KY. She cherished her five great-grandchildren, Trennon Tarter, Benjamin Hoellein, Ellary Tarter, Thomas Hoellein, and Zachary Hoellein. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Elsie Roberts, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Estel Hammond, Walter Hammond, Robert Hammond, Dewey Hammond, and Melvin Hammond; and three sisters, Lela Canada, Delpha Gholson, and Luda Zink. She is survived by one sister, Irene Morris (Don) of Salem, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 16, beginning at 2 PM at the Oak Hill Baptist Church in Somerset.
