Nancy Dykes, born July 25, 1940 passed from this life September 25, 2016 after a brave 9 year battle with breast cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who devoted her life to her husband of 56 years, and her family. She spent her childhood years in Tekamah, Nebraska and moved to Denver, CO after her marriage. She was an animal lover and took care of many animals when they moved to a farm in Ft. Lupton, CO. She still had several animals when they moved to her husband’s childhood home of Somerset, KY. Nancy had a flair for life and enjoyed music, crocheting and sewing, politics, dressing elegantly, and traveling in their RV. She also enjoyed attending her children’s events and then her grandchildren’s events. She always thought of others before herself. She is preceded in death by; her loving parents, William H. and Viola VanCleve and one sister, Judy (Steven) Dodd. She is survived by her husband, Denton J. Dykes; children, Susan (Louis) Turman, Rebecca Larsh, Denton (Pauline) Dykes; a sister, Susan (Ted) Kretzer; grandchildren, Amanda (Josiah) Simpson, Heather Snow, Andrew (Ashley) Blessing, and Shawn (Ashley) Turman; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A private family service was held September 28, 2016 at the Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial was observed by her family on October 3, 2016 at the Tekamah Cemetery in Tekamah, Nebraska. Both Pulaski Funeral Home of Somerset, KY and Pelan Funeral Service of Takamah, NE were honored to serve the family of Nancy Dykes.
