Rev. Elmer A. Wiley, son of the late Robert and Frances Lawson Wiley, was born in Cattlettsburg, Kentucky on March 12, 1921, and he departed this life at his residence in Somerset, KY having attained the age of 88 years.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Virginia E. Hutson Wiley, on November 4, 1944 in Cincinnati, OH. She preceded him in death on April 19, 1999 in Somerset, KY.
Three children blessed this union; two daughters, Joyce (and Tom) Peercy of Somerset, KY, and Janet (and Larry) Brashear of Sebastian, FL. and one son, Jim (and Sandy) Wiley of Mason, OH. Other survivors include; 12 grandchildren, Beth Hopkins, Vicki Sweet, Andrew (and Christie) Brashear, Amy (and Terry) Smith, Wade Brashear, Melissa (and Tom) Stover, Erica Wiley, Katharine Wiley, Dana (and Lance) Robinson, Derrik Drake, Nathan (and Jessica) Mason, and Amber (and Chris) Frye, 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Paul (and Karen) Wiley of Rush, KY, and one brother-in-law, Ed Young also of Rush, KY.
Rev. Wiley later wed to Mrs. Evelyn Mason Wiley. She survives, children that entered the family through this marriage are Kathy (and Damont) Drake of Brooksville, Fl., and David Mason of Pine Knot, KY.
Other than his parents and first wife, he was also preceded in death by five brothers, six sisters, and one grandchild, Denise Sweet.
Rev. Wiley gave his life to the ministry and the introduction of Christ to a lost and dying world. He was a World War II Air Force Veteran and he had a fun loving, yet kind and gentle spirit. Rev. Wiley leaves a host of relatives, friends and church family who both mourn his passing and celebrate his home going.
Funeral services for Rev. Elmer Wiley will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Beacon Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family of Rev. Elmer Wiley will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009 and from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Church until after services.
