Donald Whitis

Donald Whitis, 73, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at his residence. Don was born on September 24, 1942; son of the late Bobby and Beuna Poynter Whitis. He was the owner of Whitis Body Shop. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Cumberland and gardening. He was of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Fran Helton Whitis; two daughters whom he loved dearly, Michelle & (Gary) Burgin and Alyson & (Chris) Class; two wonderful grandchildren, Cole Garrett Burgin and Hollyn Grace Burgin; one brother, E.J. & (Violet) Whitis; one sister, Wilene Hargis; one brother-in-law, Cecil Messenger. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Donnie Lee; sisters, Christine Harper, Bobbie Messenger, and Faye Strumberger' and one brother, Ronnie Whitis. A funeral service will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sloans Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 12 Noon, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Pulaski Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or Sloans Valley Cemetery. Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
