Verla Mae Mize

Ms. Verla Mae Mize, 83, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. She was born on June 6, 1933; daughter of the late Elbert & Carlie Hines Alexander. She was a retired Beautician, and a member of East Somerset Baptist Church. Verla was a woman who loved her church, serving the Lord, and singing in the choir. She found great joy and happiness in being surrounded by her family and friends. She is gone to be with her beloved husband Johnny. She is survived by a son Mitch & (Angela) Mize of Venetia, PA; a daughter, Sheree & (Chuck) Waddle of Somerset; a sister, Betty Phelps; Sheree & Chucks children include Patrick & (Nania) Waddle, Brandon & (Devin) Waddle, Tyler & (Emily) Waddle; Mitch & Angela's children include, Whitney Wilcutt, John Mize, Julie & (Drew) Nichols, Lindsey & (Mike) Gurk, and Alex Simon; Verla's great-grandchildren include, Cliff Waddle, Lily Wilcutt, Lincoln Waddle, Emory Wilcutt, Dylyn Waddle, and Ameila Morning Waddle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert & Carlie Hines Alexander; her husband, Clifford Johnny Mize; and four sisters, Edna Cox, Essie Ping, Lucille Bolton, and Ruth Smiley. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Monday September 5, 2016 at East Somerset Baptist Church with Bro. Darvie Fenison officiating. Burial will be in Clay Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 11 AM Monday, September 5, 2016 at East Somerset Baptist Church until time for funeral services. Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
