Mrs. Eva Branscum

Eva Branscum, 97, of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at her home. She was born March 7, 1919, the first child of the late Kizer and Susie Dick Morrow of Wayne County, in the Gregory community. She was a retired employee of Sunrise Manor Nursing Home, now known as Cumberland Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church where she was a faithful member and supporter as long as her health permitted. Eva is survived by; a daughter, Annita Roberts of Monticello, and three sons, Lewie (and Jeanette) Branscum of Franklin, IN, Larry (and Betty) Branscum of Ocala, FL and Allen (and Emily) Branscum of Somerset, KY; one brother, Denver Morrow of Hendersonville, NC; six grandchildren, Ken (and Tammy) Roberts, Diane (and Kevin) Bratten, Tammy (and Scott) Gordon, Mary Beth (and Cory) Wynn, Stephanie Abernathy, and Cindy (and Steve) Cohee; seven great grandchildren, Emily and Madeline Gordon, Cooper, Grayson and Beckett Wynn, Amanda Davis and Danielle Dye along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; her husband, Arlie on August 23, 2008 after nearly 70 years of marriage. They were united in marriage on November 3, 1938 in Wayne County and moved to Somerset in December of 1969. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by; three sisters, Vena Lovell, Nellie Halcomb, and Lillie Turner; three brothers, Carl, Edd and Omer Morrow; a son-in-law, Frank Roberts, and a grandson, Stephen Branscum. She had a life that was centered around her family, God, and her church and led by example rather than words. She will be remembered for her caring, gentle spirit and her devotion to her family, friends and her independence. The family of Eva Branscum would like to publicly acknowledge their gratitude to the many ladies that have provided care for Eva at her home during the last seven years, and also to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Lifeline Home Health and Dr. Joe Weigel. A funeral service will be conducted at the Oak Hill Baptist Church on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Phelps and Rev. Harold Brown officiating and Ken Roberts a grandson also assisting. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. The family of Eva Branscum will receive friends at the Oak Hill Baptist Church Wednesday, July 6, 2016 after 6:00 p.m. Her family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the Oak Hill Baptist Church Building Fund. The Pulaski Funeral Home is honored in assisting the family of Eva Branscum during this difficult time.
