Mrs. Bonnie Ruth Fleming, 91, passed away peacefully from this life on June 23, 2016 at Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Somerset, KY. She was surrounded by her family.
Bonnie Ruth Fleming, was born June 13, 1925 in Trion Georgia, Chattooga County. The daughter of the late Archie Henry and Maggie Grimes Thomas. She was united in marriage to Mr. Raymond Clifford “Tip” Fleming on June 22, 1946. Raymond preceded her in death.
She was a business woman operating Fleming Fabrics from 1960 thru 1968. After closing her business, she was employed by the Somerset Housing Authority, rising to the position of Executive Director before her retirement years.
Bonnie was a charter member of the Beacon Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang In the choir.
Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband; Raymond “Tip” Fleming on February 21, 1986. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Katie Ledbetter, and Nell Williams; and three brothers, Herman, Glen and Ralph Thomas.
She is survived by; her son; Brent (and Beverly) Fleming; one grandson, Adam Brent Fleming; and one brother, James Thomas.
The family will receive friends locally from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Pulaski Funeral Home.
There will be a second visitation held at the Mason Funeral Home in Summerville, Georgia on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at which time a funeral service will be held at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brian Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Active Pallbearers will be Brent Fleming, Adam Fleming, Mark Searles, Todd Thomas, Matt Thomas and Trey Skelton. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Thomas, Scott Thomas, and Sam Thomas.
