Vernon Howard Jones, loving Husband, Father, and caring Friend, fell asleep in Jesus on June 1st, 2016 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky at the age of 83. He was born on September 18th, 1932 in Wallins Creek, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rice and Fannie Jones of Harlan, his brothers, Bob, Tom, Jim, and Johnny Jones, his sisters Sue Monroe and Joyce Miliff, his son in law Scott TenHagen, and his granddaughter Melody Rowlands.
He is survived by his dear wife of 63 years, Pauline (Hensley) Jones, sister in law Jenene Dye and her husband Cliff, brother in law Wayne Burkhart and his wife Judy, his children (by birth and marriage) Lynne (Jones) Burk and her husband Kevin, Daryl Jones and his wife Gerrie, and Kay (Jones) TenHagen, grandchildren Scott Rowlands and his wife Beth, Jonathan Rowlands and Sarah Vessels, Katie DeSiresy, Jessica Burk, Mike and Alison (Burk) Kamper, Denise Bromagen, Amy Gravel, Lisa Hezlep, and Gregory Gravel - in addition to countless friends and co-workers who knew and loved him over the course of his life.
Vernon (affectionately known as ‘Pop’) served his Country faithfully in Korea. He humbly and faithfully served his Lord and Savior as a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church as a Deacon or Elder wherever he was living in whatever capacities were most needed at the time. His most recent membership and service were at the church in Stearns, Kentucky.
Services will be held at the Somerset SDA Church, 660 West Bourbon Road, Somerset, Kentucky on Tuesday, June 7th, 2016, with Visitation beginning at 11 am and a Memorial Service following at 1 pm with Elder Glenn Trammell officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy takes the form of contributions to the Pulaski County Humane Society.
