James Albert "Jack" Sowder, son of the late James Robert and Lettie Whitis Sowder, was born in Cincinnati, OH on Feb. 15, 1930 and he departed this life at his residence on May 30, 2016 having attained the age of 86 years. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Frances Marie Bates Sowder on March 25, 1950 and have enjoyed more than 66 happy years together as a couple. She survives.
Other survivors include; a daughter, Donna Marie Eaton of Somerset, five grandchildren, Deana Marie (and Jason) Skaggs of Russell Springs, Brian (and Crystal) Sowder of Somerset, Sara (and Adam) Gress of Louisville, Wesley Elizabeth Sowder of Louisville, and James Kelly (and Ashley) Sowder of Danville; and four great grandchildren, Jaycie Skaggs, Max J. Sowder, James Ryder, and Gunner Stringer.
Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Sowder, a sister that died in infancy, a son in law, Byron Eaton and two brothers, Kenneth and Leonard Sowder.
"Jack" was a member of the Rock Lick Baptist Church and he enjoyed fishing and going to various flea markets. He was a very colorful person who loved life and his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and relatives who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. David Evans and Bro. Jerry Harper officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Lick Cemetery.
The family of Mr. Sowder will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. Friday until time for services.
