Elizabeth C. Brooks age 73 of West Lakeshore Drive Burnside, was born in Oak Hill, KY on January 11, 1936 and departed this life at her home on Tuesday May 19, 2009. She was the daughter of Clinton Schoolcraft and the late Kathleen Garner Schoolcraft. She was married to James “Jim” Brooks on March 21, 1953 in Rossville, Georgia. She was the mother of Suzanne B. (and Robert) Lawson and James Russell Brooks (deceased) grand- mother of Aimee Renee Flynn, April Suzanne Noritis (and Mike) Stephen Russell Flynn (and Jennifer), great grandmother of Chelsey Brooke Flynn, Gabriel Allen Spradlin, Kailan Ashbey Flynn, Makayla Rae Noritis, Steven Lee Flynn, Madison Faith Flynn, one brother Eddie Schoolcraft (and Barbara),niece Tonya Venable (and Anthony), nephew, Brad Schoolcraft, sister-in-law Mary Sue (and Ralph) Latham and a host of nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her son James Russell Brooks, her mother Kathleen Schoolcraft, mother-in-law, Clarice C. Brooks, father-in-law, Richard Lee Brooks. She was a member of the Pulaski Writing Alliance, and a member of the singing group Celebration. She was the first lady elected to the city council of Burnside and a member of Beacon Hill Baptist church where she played the organ. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Heart Association, or the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund. Funeral services for Elizabeth C. Brooks will be in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home on Friday 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Dan Garland, Dr. John Mark Toby, and Rev. Sam Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Burnside Cemetery. The family of Elizabeth C. Brooks will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 5:00 p.m. Thursday May 21, 2009.
