Alma Whitis, 90, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
She was born in Somerset, Kentucky on March 29, 1926; daughter of the late Roscoe & Rosie Smiley Petrey. She worked for Palm Beach, and was a co-owner of Whitis Market in Somerset for a number of years. She was a member of Nelson Valley Baptist Church.
She is survived by two step-daughters, Marella & (Donald) Stevens of Somerset, and Marcella Litton of Ohio; one sister, Dessie Sutton West of Somerset; a sister-in-law, Louise Petrey of Ohio; three nieces, Diane & (Louie) Bubnick, and Elaine & (Jim) Cundiff both of Somerst, and Donna Lennos; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; four grandchildren, Donald, Jr. & (Kimberly) Stevens, Rodney & (Jennifer) Stevens, Joseph Bryan Massey, and Meshell Massey; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Whitis; her parents, and two brothers, Lucian Petrey, and Marshall Petrey.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Eden Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs. Alma Whitis will be after 11 AM Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
