Mr. Joseph Michael "Mike" Bales

December 2, 1957 — April 9, 2016

Joseph Michael “Mike” Bales went home to be with his Lord on April 9, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Mike was born December 2, 1956 to Mr. Joe Bales and Mrs. Beulah Elizabeth Bales. Mike devoted his life to his Christian faith, having been saved at an early age. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force, a dedicated retired Postal Service employee having spent most of his career in the West Somerset, Kentucky Division. He was a Kentucky Colonel and belonged to the Somerset Masonic Lodge # 111. He was an avid outdoorsman, an accomplished hunter and fisherman. He loved watching UK Basketball, the Cincinnati Reds and Nascar. He was especially proud and spent many joyful hours watching his sons involvement with their basketball and baseball teams. Golf was another beloved pastime, relishing the fellowship spent on the golf course with his many friends, especially during their annual golf outing to Boone, NC. However, the biggest love of his life was his children, Billie Jo, Jacob (Jake) and Jordan Bales. He is survived by his parents, his children, one sister April Bales Yeager and her husband Terry, nieces Tracye Lackey, Michelle Davis, great nieces and nephews Madison, Dean and Sara Davis and Simon Lackey. Also, Aunts Mozell Hessey, Norma Lee Girdler and Evelyn Bales along with many cousins, a host of friends and his extended Postal workers family. He will be greatly missed by all that mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Donovan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery. The family of Mr. Joseph Michael “Mike” Bales will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016.
