Mr. Jackie Girdler

Mr. Jackie Girdler, the son of Mildred Irene Sears Girdler and the late Henry Preston Girdler, was born in Somerset, KY on February 16, 1942 and he departed this life on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Somerset, KY having attained the age of 74 years. Survivors include: his mother; Mildred Girdler; one daughter, Angel (and James) Ward of Somerset, KY; one grandchild, Amy (and Bubba) Hall of Somerset, KY; three great grandchildren, Austin Walker, Isaac Walker and Dennis Preston Walker; one brother, Jerry Girdler of Somerset, KY, one sister, Carol (and Steve) Dunn of Somerset, KY and the mother of his daughter, Connie Wilson. Other than his father, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Donnie Girdler. Jackie was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Korea and Vietnam. He was also a retired Law Enforcement officer for the Somerset Police Department, and he later worked for the Knoxville Zoo as an Elephant handler. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed dirt track racing, and camping. Jackie was a kind person who will be greatly missed by his family and friends, he leaves a host of relatives, friends and church family who mourn his passing. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 38. The family of Mr. Jackie Girdler will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until time for services. In Lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Jackie Girdler.
