Jackie K. “Jack” Vaught, 78, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born in Dabney, Ky on November 9, 1937; son of the late Charlie Ernest and Lola Isabell McKinney. He was a deacon and taught both teenagers and adult Sunday school classes at Nelson Valley Baptist Church for many years. He was an avid NASCAR and UK basketball fan.
He is survived by his wife Carol “Sue” Evans Vaught with whom he married on May 20, 1956 and whom he would have celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary with this coming May; one son, James Ernest “Ernie” Vaught, and one daughter, Vilda Jean Vaught Begley both of Somerset; three sisters, Charlene Denney and Betty Jones Herrin both of Somerset, and Deloris Irvine of West Chester, OH; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Vaught of Danville; special brother-in-law, Ernest Evans; special friend, Bill & (Janie) Bryant; grandchildren, Crystal & (Levi) Constant of Richmond; Kristopher & (Ashtyn) Begley, Joshua Begley, and Charlie M. Vaught all of New Albany, IN, and Hunter Hisel of Somerset; great-grandchildren, Kendall Klarke Constant and Knox Jameson Constant both of Richmond; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charlie Vaught; brothers-in-law, Bill Denney and Jim Irvine.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, March 11, 2016 at Nelson Valley Baptist Church with Bro Stanley Childers officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 PM Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Nelson Valley Baptist Church, and after 11 am Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Church until time for funeral services.
