Mrs. Laurene Randall Phelps, daughter of the late Rev. Clifford and Zena James Randall was born at Ula, Kentucky on Wednesday, October 6, 1926 and she departed this life on Monday March 7, 2016 having attained the age of 89 years 5 months and 1 day.
She was united in marriage on January 23, 1943 to Mr. Boyd Bertram Phelps, he preceded her in death. Four children blessed this union; Mike (and Jennifer) Phelps of Somerset, KY, Mark (and Theresa) Phelps of Corbin, Kentucky, Don (and Jimmie) Phelps of Science Hill, Kentucky and Bruce (and Rhonda) Phelps of Science Hill, KY; eight grandchildren, Matthew (and Sheridan) Phelps, Heather Nicole Melton Goldson, Summer Phelps, Dr. Cole (and Dr. Katherine “Katie”) Phelps, Levi (and Kelly) Barnes, Heather (and Josh) Anderson, Lindsey Brown and her fiancée Joe Quigley, and Ashley (and Alex) Meece; 9 great grandchildren, and one brother, Clifford Randall, Jr. (and his wife Beverly).
Other than her parents, and husband, she was also preceded in death by; three brothers, Murrell Randall, Pete (and Geneva) Randall, and Leon “Beaver” (and Rose) Randall, and one sister, Althene (and Don) Linkes as well as three nieces and three nephews, Juanita Murrell Randall, Linda Newton, Joan Godby, Ronald and Clifford Linkes and James Randall.
Laurene retired from General Electric Glass Plant after 24 years of service. She was a member of the Science Hill Methodist Church. Laurene was a kind, sweet and strong lady who will be missed by all of her friends, and relatives.
A funeral service for Mrs. Phelps will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Science Hill Nazarene Church with Dr. Curtis Sellers officiating. Burial will follow in the Science Hill Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Laurene Phelps will receive friends at the Church from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until time for services.
