Nellie Blevins

Nellie Blevins, age 88 of Somerset, KY passed away on Monday, February 15, at the Jean Waddle care Center. Nellie was united in marriage to Mr. Elmer Blevins for 70 years. He survives. She was the daughter of Elmer Franklin and Myrtle Mayfield Sears. Nellie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Somerset and faithfully attended as long as her health would permit. She worked in the Shoe Department of Roses Department Store for many years and was a homemaker. She was a faithful volunteer for the Pulaski County Mission Clothing Center for many years. The clothing center was one of her passions along with Bowling as long as she was able. She was an accomplished bowler and enjoyed her time at the Briar Bowl Lanes. She was also an avid sports fan, loving the UK Wildcats and the Cincinnati Reds as well as Nascar. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Goebel D. Sears, E.F. Sears, A.J. Sears, Ben (and Beulah) Sears, Beulah (and Lawrence) Wilkerson, Ella (and Bee) Mize, Christine (and Kelly) Hodge, Mary Jane (and Gilmore) Phelps, Elizabeth (and Omer) Snell, Raynette (and Charles) Bullock, Nadine Sears, and one son, Mitchell Blevins. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Blevins; two sons, Gene Blevins of Florida and Michael Blevins of Somerset; three sisters-in-law, Faye Sears of Somerset, Doris Sears of Indianapolis, IN and Mildred Smith of Somerset. Other survivors include three brothers-in-law, Charles Bullock of Marietta, GA, Vola Smith of Somerset, KY, and Cressel Rainey of Somerset, KY. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Dr. French Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Sears Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Nellie Blevins will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday February 18, 2016 and from 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Pulaski Funeral Home until time for services. In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Nellie Blevins.
