Mr. Virgil S. Edwards, son of the late Dell C. and Pearl Snell Edwards, was born on June 26, 1915 at Dykes, KY and he departed this life on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital having attained the age of 93 years.
He was united in marriage to Mary Zula Edwards on October 15, 1932 in Somerset, KY, she preceded him in death.
Survivors include; one son, Eddie (and Doris) Edwards of Somerset, KY; three granddaughters, Suzanne (and Alan) Strunk of Lexington, KY, Amy (and Steve) Parrott of Somerset, KY, and Marylee (and Greg) Gover of Somerset, KY; eight great grandchildren, Ingrid, Wesley, and Clark Strunk of Lexington, KY, Joshua, Ashley and Addy Parrott of Somerset, KY, and Morgan and Taylor Gover of Somerset, KY; one sister, Beulah Jones of Somerset, KY; one sister-in-law, Helen R. Edwards and one very special care giver; Peggy Taylor of Mt. Victory, KY.
Other than his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by one son, Tommie Lee Edwards; one daughter, Helen Louise Edwards; and four brothers, Ira, Elmer, Ray and Bishop Edwards and three sisters, Carrie Jenkins, Mae Whitis and Thelma Worrell.
Virgil was a Carpenter, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Friendship Methodist Church and he was a retired member of the Local 1650 United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of KY. He was a kind and gentle person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him and he leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Greg Gover officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family of Mr. Virgil S. Edwards will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Funeral Home.
