Mr. James Robert “Bob” Cromer, son of the late Joe William and Valenchia Pitman Cromer, was born at Luner, KY on January 18, 1918 and he departed this life in the presence of family members at his residence on April 9, 2009 having attained the age of 91 years.
He was united in marriage to; Rose Marie Doan Cromer, whom he married on February 9, 1938 in Luner, KY, she survives. Other survivors include; one son, James Robert Cromer, Jr. and his wife Janet of Somerset, KY.; five daughters, June Stokes and her husband Bob, Shirley Madden and her husband Roy, Betty Lair and her husband Jack, and Donna Tincher and her husband Roy all of Somerset, KY, and Judy Gressmire and her husband Steve of Clarksville, TN; Ten grandchildren, Larry Stokes, Lisa Wright, Diana Hyden, David Lair, James Robert Cromer III, Brad Jones, Brock Jones,Brandon Keith, Robert Jones, Jr., and Paul Jones; nine great grandchildren, Emily Pannell, Erin Ketron, Samantha Criswell, Maggie Sears, Matthew Sears, Haley Sears, Justin Cromer, Lindsey Sears, and Taylor Marie Hyden, three great great grandchildren, Daniel Robert Ketron, Sarah Grace Pannell, and Hunter Criswell; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Edward and Jonas Cromer; and seven sisters, Thelma Ping, Hester Logsdon, Minta Lovins, French Lovins, Ida Ping Carrie Cromer, and Frances Loving.
Bob attended the Lake Cumberland Church of the Nazarene. He was a farmer and a wonderful person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him, he leaves a host of relatives, and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 14, 2009 at the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Harry Varn and Rev. Gene Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family of Mr. James Robert “Bob” Cromer will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 5:00 p.m. on Monday April 13, 2009.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.
