Lawrence “Larry” Nunemaker, 84, of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009 at Somerset Nursing Rehabilitation. He was born May 7, 1924, in Vico, Ky., the son of the late W.L. Nunemaker and Katie Wooley Nunemaker Brown.
He was self employed at Somerset Maytag and Electric until 1985. He then became employed with Pulaski County as an overseer and Maintiance Director at Pulaski County Jail and later at Pulaski County Courthouse. He attended the First Christian Church where he served as an elder. Mr. Nunemaker devoted his time to Boy Scout Troop 79 as scout master for over 20 years. He was a member of the Armed Forces during WWII and survived the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Marilyn Minter Nunemaker in 1946, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters, two half sisters and 1 half brother. He is survived by his son, Dr. Larry Wayne Nunemaker, his daughter, Sybil Ann Nunemaker Gates, both of Somerset; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Nunemaker will be Thursday, Apr. 2, 2009 from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home. A graveside military service will follow at Mill Springs National Cemetery.
The family requests expressions of sympathy to be made in form of donations to Boy Scout Troop 79 and the Garden Fund at First Christian Church, Somerset.
