Jessie Dalton

March 3, 1925 — November 20, 2015

Mrs. Jessie Ovaline (Yahnig) Dalton, daughter of the late Joe R. and Clara M. (Simpson) Yahnig, was born on March 3, 1925 in Somerset, Ky. She departed this life at Providence Retirement Home, New Albany, IN on November 20, 2015. Until recently, she was still living on her own at the age of 90 years. She was united in marriage to Larry L. Dalton on July 5, 1947. They were married for 62 years until the time of his death. Survivors include; two daughters, Rhonda (and Pete) Compise of Henryville, IN; Karen (and Kent ) Robson of Nashville, TN; two sons, Larry Dalton II of Palmyra, IN; and Dewayne Dalton of Ann Arbor, MI; two grandsons Kyle (and Beth) Robson, Kelsey (and Sara) Robson; five granddaughters, Kathryn and Kia Robson, and Melody (and Christian) Dalton Chastain, Rachel (and Evan) Dalton Manias, and Nancy Dalton; four great grandchildren, Alexa Robson, Cecelia and Gianna Robson, and Mollie Chastain; two sisters, Christine Knopp of Staunton, VA, Josephine Elliott of Texhoma, OK and one brother, Frank Yahnig of Somerset, KY. Other than her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Dudley, and Albert Yahnig all of Somerset, KY. She enjoyed going to church, spending time with her family and going to her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was an avid fan of NASCAR and basketball, and she enjoyed fishing and spending time on her daughter and son-in-law’s boat. She was a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Visitation will be held after 5:00 PM, Monday, November 23, 2015, and the funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, KY. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Jimmy V Foundation for cancer research (Please contact www.jimmyv.org).
