Onedia Whitaker

Onedia Whitaker, age 73 of Somerset, KY, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She is the daughter of the late Henry T. and Lillie Bland Burkett of Faubush, Kentucky. She was born on April 16, 1935 in Pulaski Co., KY. She was a waitress and a seamstress. She was married to the late Donnie C. “Don” Whitaker on June 13, 1953 in Mt. Victory, KY. She is survived by; one son, Ronnie C. “Ron” (and Jonnie) Whitaker of Johnson City, TN; one sister, Irene Boyer; four brothers, Eyuind, William “Bill”, Jerry Wayne, and Jimmy Burkett.; two grandsons, Timothy Whitaker of Oralndo, FL, and Clay Burton of Science Hill, KY; one granddaughter, Heather Burton of Science Hill, KY; eight nieces, six nephews, and a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing. She was a member of the Somerset First Baptist Church since the age of 12 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one daughter, Penny Lynn Whitaker Burton; two sons, Johnny Wayne and Timothy Whitaker and three sisters, Alodine Bland, Genece Mink, and Imogene Burkett. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family of Mrs. Onedia Whitaker will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until time for services at the Pulaski Funeral Home.
