Stephen Francis “Steve” McKee of Sloans Valley passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2015, leaving a hole in the hearts of all those who loved him and most of those who had ever met him. Steve was stationed in Alaska in 1965 while serving in the Army, and spent about 30 years in Eagle River, Alaska before moving back home. He retired from ATT Alascom and was a Teamster, and then worked as an electrician in his retirement. He was active with the Lions Club, the Elks Club, the American Legion, and playing darts. Steve loved being outdoors – hunting, fishing, pitching horseshoes, and grilling for whoever was around to eat it. He was always willing to lend a hand and made everyone feel like they were his favorite.
Steve is survived by his daughter and her family, David and Fran Ryan of Sparks, NV, and grandchildren Will, Alex, and Jenna; three stepsons and their families, Rick and Carol Burnett of Irvine, CA; Pete and Natalie Burnett of Oro Valley, AZ, and Norm Burnett of Reno, NV. He leaves behind three brothers, Lynn and Iris McKee of Eagle River, AK; Garry and Ann McKee; and Sherrill McKee of Sloans Valley, and numerous nieces and nephews, loving friends, and extended family. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Brady and Flora McKee, and siblings Morris, Larry (Amos), and Joyce. He is loved deeply and will be missed by many.
