Austin Whitson

Austin Whitson, age 84, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center. He was the son of Oscar Sherman Whitson and Lena Young Whitson, born September 17, 1931, in Shopville, Ky. He was united in marriage to Martha (Marty) Bullock Whitson. Austin was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Somerset. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was an x-ray technician at Somerset City Hospital. He was employed by Alton Blakley Ford for 30 years. In addition to his wife Marty, Austin is survived by sons, Mark Whitson (and Jonnell), and Eric Whitson, and his sisters Mary Lou Whitson Russell and Anne Whitson Mize. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Austin Whitson, and Annie Whitson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Vernon Whitson. Visitation for Austin Whitson will be Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church of Somerset beginning at 10:00am until 1:00pm with the service beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donation to be made in memory of Austin Whitson to the First Presbyterian Church Capital Campaign Fund. The Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
