Mr. Gerald Nelson, son of the late Tommy and Jenny Manning Nelson, was born in Somerset, Kentucky on May 3, 1953 and he departed this life on Sunday, September 13, 2015 having attained the age of 62 years.
Survivors include; one son, Willie Ray (and Michelle) Nelson; two daughters, Renee and Chelsea Nelson all of Somerset, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Tayler Virginia West, Willie Ray Nelson II, Austin Wayne Nelson, and Emily Rose Nelson; two brothers, Wayne (and Connie) Nelson and Ronnie Nelson; and two sisters, Carol (and Jay) Floyd, and Beverly Gaddis.
Gerald adhered to the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed farming, riding motorcycles and being around family. He was a very devoted family man, and was a very trustworthy individual.
He was employed by D.B.S. Corporation of Chattanooga, Tennessee and he was considered a legend in the company. Jerry was employed with DBS Corporation, a commercial general contractor based in Chattanooga, TN. He lead the company field supervision of multiple WalMart SuperCenters and retail complexes. Jerry has been instrumental in all phases of site development and building construction. He has shared his knowledge and wisdom with all who worked with him. Jerry was a no nonsense leader and never backed down regardless of the project complexity or magnitude. His military training and self-discipline guided his dedicated work ethic. He was a firm but fair man with a sense of duty and responsibility. All who worked with him enjoyed his direct approach and sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He was a kind and fun loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him and he leaves a host of relatives, friends and business associates who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in the Nelson Family Cemetery.
Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 38
The family will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015.
